Life happens. And before you know it there's homework and TV remotes covering the now-invisible coffee table and something falls off the shelf when you go to grab spices out of the pantry.
You may be thinking, "I just have too much stuff." But you might simply be unaware of the untapped storage space already available. Here are a few tips to organize the rooms that need it most:
Declutter the Living Room
Organize the Kitchen, Refrigerator & Pantry
Some may say, "The kitchen is the heart of the home." The kitchen, like the heart, needs to function properly. Everything needs to be easily accessible and, for lack of a better word, organized.
Countertop space is priceless in a kitchen. Maximize your counter space by utilizing vertical space, including the sides of your cabinets. Hang baskets or hooks near the sink to hold a hand towel, soap and sponge.
Even organizing your refrigerator can eliminate kitchen-stress. Create a "snack bin" for the family so they avoid eating the ingredients you were saving for dinner. Even better, have an "eat first" basket so food doesn't go to waste. For everything else, combine like-items into clear, labeled containers to consolidate and organize.
Your pantry can follow the same system as your refrigerator. The goal of both is to be able to see everything clearly and easily access what you need. Put open items like flour, sugar, rice and noodles into clear, air-tight glass or plastic containers. Use baskets to corral cans, snacks and treats. Then organize the shelves by the type of food such as breakfast, snacks, baking and cooking.
